Sidi Okba
Sidi Okba, in the middle of an oasis of 100.000 palm trees is an active center of 30.000 inhabitants, of a curious aspect with its dried ground constructions. One also visits with interest the palm plantations, created at the beginning of the XVIIe century, which are completely remarkable by the proportions and the beauty of the trees. The oasis owes its name to the Arab warrior Okba Ben Nafaa, who dies with the surroundings (62 of the hégire, 683-684 after J.C.) and whose body rests in the mosque of the village. The tomb of Sidi Okba attracts rather many Moslem pilgrims and the oasis is a religious center for all the area
